Ok, you like pizza, but you have no time to make it. Here are some special recipes which can help you make very fast pizza from French bread. Enjoy!
Alternative Pizza
1.Super Stuffed French Bread Pizza
1 (2 foot long) loaf French bread
1 pound sweet Italian sausage
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 small red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 small onion, chopped
2 large cloves garlic, chopped
1 package frozen chopped spinach defrosted and squeezed dry
Salt and pepper
1 1/2 cups part skim ricotta
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 pound sweet sopressata, from the deli, sliced thick, chopped
1/2 stick pepperoni, chopped
1 sack (10 ounces) shredded mozzarella
1 sack (10 ounces) shredded provolone
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Split bread lengthwise and hollow it out. Cut in half across, making 4 shells for pizzas.
Heat a skillet over medium high flame and brown sausage in extra-virgin olive oil. Brown and crumble sausage. Add red bell pepper, onion and garlic. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, add spinach. Remove mixture from heat and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper, to your taste.
Transfer to a bowl. Combine sausage and veggies with ricotta, Parmesan, sopressata and pepperoni. Fill bread shells and top with mounded mozzarella and provolone cheeses. Place in hot oven on cookie sheet and bake until cheese melts and bubbles and bread is super crisp, about 10 to 12 minutes. Top pizzas with oregano and hot pepper flakes. Serve immediately, or snack all night!

You Will Need
Half of a 1/2-pound loaf whole-wheat French or Italian bread
1 garlic clove, cut in half
2 large ripe tomatoes, cored and chopped
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (about 2 ounces)
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crumbled
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
What to Do
1. Heat broiler. Cut bread in half lengthwise. Scoop out and discard the soft center. Place bread cut side up on an ungreased baking sheet and toast in the broiler, 5 to 6 inches from heat, until lightly browned, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove bread and rub with garlic.
2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine tomatoes, mozzarella, olive oil, oregano, and pepper. Spoon the mixture into each piece of bread and sprinkle with Parmesan. Broil 3 minutes.
Per serving: Calories 290, fat 12 g, saturated fat 3 g, cholesterol 8 mg, sodium 292 mg, carbohydrate 30 g, fiber 5 g, protein 17 g.
3.French Bread Pizza
1 loaf French bread, plain
1 jar Ragu pizza quick, or any pizza sauce
1 pkg. Mozzarella cheese
Cut French bread LENGTHWISE to make 2 boats. With your hands (wash first please) dip out the heart or middle of the French bread making a shell. Leave enough bread to make a nice crust but the whole middle is too much.
Place on cookie sheet and toast in the over several minutes until crusty. Pour pizza sauce on French bread and top with cheese (you can add ground meat to pizza sauce if you want). Place back in oven and bake until cheese melts and French bread is crusty. It is best when French bread is pretty crunchy. Take out and cut into pieces.
NOTE: The French bread would be soggy if you don't toast it before putting pizza sauce on it.
4.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 long loaf French bread, split and halved
1 (14 oz.) jar Ragu pizza quick sauce
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. Sargento natural shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided
1 c. yellow pepper, thinly sliced
1 c. red pepper, thinly sliced
1 c. zucchini, thinly sliced
1/2 c. pitted sliced black olives
1/2 c. pepperoni slices
4 tbsp. minced fresh herbs
Put French bread on baking sheet. Top each quarter with Ragu pizza sauce and sprinkling of Sargento Mozzarella cheese. Layer vegetables and pepperoni evenly on top of each quarter. Sprinkle with herbs. Cover with remaining Mozzarella cheese. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.
5.French Bread Pizzas
1 lb. extra sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 (2 or 4 oz.) can chopped olives
1 lg. onion, finely chopped
1/2 c. salad oil
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
Salt
Garlic
Oregano
Hot peppers (jalapenos), optional
Combine cheese, olives, onions, pepper, salad oil, and tomato sauce. Add salt, garlic, and oregano to taste. Slice French bread; spread on mixture. Broil until bubbly; serve hot. Makes about 60 pizzas.
6.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 loaf French bread, cut lengthwise
1 jar Ragu pizza sauce, spread on both halves
Top with any or all of the following: Bell peppers Onions Mushrooms Pepperoni
Top with Mozzarella. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
7.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 pkg. individual French bread rolls
1 jar pizza sauce
1 pkg. shredded cheese
1 sm. can mushroom stems and pieces
Place French roll halves in a flat pan. Spoon pizza sauce on each half roll. Sprinkle each half roll with cheese and mushrooms. Heat at 350 degrees until cheese melts (or 8 minutes).
8.French Bread Pizza Recipe
2 (6 to 8 inch) long French rolls
1 (8 oz.) can pizza sauce
1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
2 (1 oz.) slices cooked ham, cut into bite size pieces
Cooked bacon, crumbled up
Preheat the broiler. Halve French bread lengthwise. Hollow out each half, leaving a 1/2 inch-thick shell. In a medium saucepan, stir together pizza sauce, green pepper and the ham. Meanwhile, on an ungreased baking sheet place bread halves, cut side up. Sprinkle HALF of the cheese atop bread halves. Spoon the sauce mixture into bread halves. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and with the bacon. Enjoy! Total time: 15 minutes.
9.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 (15 oz.) can pizza sauce
1 pkg. pepperoni
1 tbsp. oregano
1 tbsp. garlic salt
2 loaves French bread
1/2 lb. shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 lb. shredded Mozzarella cheese
Cut loaves of French bread in half length-wise, then in thirds vertically. Spread pizza sauce over cut sides of loaves. Sprinkle oregano and garlic salt over sauce. Divide pepperoni evenly among all sections of bread. Divide cheeses evenly over sections of bread. Bake at 350 for approximately 14 minutes or until French bread is toasted.
10.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 loaf French bread
1 sm. jar mushrooms, drained
1 jar pizza sauce
1 med. onion, diced
1/2 lg. green pepper, diced
1/2 lb. hamburger
1/2 lb. pepperoni
1/2 lb. sausage
Shredded Mozzarella cheese
While cooking sausage and hamburger, slice French bread in half lengthwise and place on cookie sheet. Spread pizza sauce equally on both slices of French bread. Add drained mushrooms, diced onion and diced green peppers. Add cooked sausage, hamburger and pepperoni. Top with Mozzarella cheese and bake until cheese melts at 350 to 400 degrees. This pizza is great to slice and freeze in individual bags for lunches and snacks. Just pop in the microwave.
11.French Bread Pizza Recipe
3/4 c. flour
4 eggs
4 tbsp. oil
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. white grape juice
1 pkg. Canadian bacon, chopped
1 c. olives, black & green, chopped
6 oz. gruyere cheese
1 tbsp. baking powder
Mix all together. Bake for 50 minutes at 350 degrees.
12.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 (8 oz.) can spaghetti sauce
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. leaf oregano
3 tbsp. oil
6 to 7 c. flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in rest of ingredients, except flour. Add flour gradually to form stiff dough. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth. Put in greased bowl; cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled in size. Divide into 2 to 3 parts on greased cookie sheets. Sprinkle with cornmeal. Let rise until double in size. Brush top with melted butter. Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 375 degrees.
13.Easy French Bread Pizza
3 long Italian rolls
1 jar pizza sauce
1 pkg. Mozzarella cheese, grated
Oregano
Cut rolls; open and lay on cookie sheet. Spoon on pizza sauce. Sprinkle each with oregano. Top each with grated cheese. Bake in 350 degree oven until cheese bubbles. Makes 6 pieces.
14.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 lb. ground beef, browned & drained
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 can black olives, sliced
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. oregano
1 med. onion, diced
1 can tomato soup
1/4 c. salad oil
1 loaf French bread
Mix all ingredients. Slice French bread lengthwise and spread mixture on each piece. Top with more grated cheese. Broil until melted. Serves 6.
15.French Bread Pizza
1 loaf French bread
1/3 c. mayonnaise
1 tsp. chili powder
3 tbsp. chopped green onions, with tops
1 c. grated cheddar cheese
Ripe olives
Split the French bread. Blend together mayonnaise and chili powder and spread over both sides of the French bread. Top with rest of the ingredients. Fold like a sandwich. Wrap in tin foil and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Slice.
16.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
1 lg. onion, finely chopped
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
Hot Jalapeno pepper (optional)
1 (2-4 oz.) can chopped olives
1/2 c. salad oil
Salt to taste
Garlic to taste
Oregano to taste
Combine cheese, olives, onions, peppers, salad oil, tomato sauce and seasonings. Slice French bread (or party rye bread) and spread on mixture. Broil until bubbly. Serve hot. Makes about 60.
17.Mushroom-Pepperoni French Bread Pizza
1 lb. loaf French bread, unsliced
6 oz. can tomato paste
1 tsp. oregano leaves
1 tsp. basil leaves
1 tbsp. olive or vegetable oil
1 garlic clove, minced
2.5 oz. jar Green Giant sliced mushrooms, well drained
3.5 oz. pkg. sliced pepperoni
8 oz. sliced Mozzarella or Provolone, cheese, cut into triangles
6 green bell pepper rings
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Slice French bread in half lengthwise. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
In small bowl, combine tomato paste, oregano, basil, oil and garlic; spread on cut surface of bread halves. Top with mushrooms and pepperoni. Arrange cheese over pepperoni, overlapping and alternating with green pepper rings. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until cheese is melted. 6 servings.
18.Fix-Your-Own French Bread Pizza
1 loaf French bread, split lengthwise & sliced in half
2 (6 oz.) cans Italian style tomato paste
1/2 c. sliced green olives
2 1/2 oz. can sliced ripe olives
1 lb. bulk Italian sausage, browned & drained
1/2 (3 oz.) pkg. pepperoni
1 green pepper, sliced into strips
1 onion, sliced & separated into rings
2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
Heat tomato paste with 1 can water in saucepan. Spread over French bread. Top as desired and bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
19.French Bread Pizza Recipe
1 lg. loaf French of Italian bread
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 c. mushrooms, sliced
1 (7 oz.) jar chunky-style spaghetti sauce
1 (5 oz.) breasts tomato herb with basil chicken, cooked, cut in pieces
2 c. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Heat oven to 425 degrees. Cut French bread in half lengthwise. Pull out soft French bread, leaving 2 crust shells. Layer vegetables in shells, spoon on spaghetti sauce and chicken. Sprinkle with cheese. Place shells on baking sheet. Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. To serve, slice each filled shell in quarters. Serves 8.
20.Lisa's Pizza Bread
1 loaf French bread
1 jar pizza sauce (like Ragu or Contadina)
Shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Toppings: like pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, etc.
Cut French bread lengthwise. Spread pizza sause on both halves. Top with cheese then with desired toppings. Bake at 350 degrees uncovered until cheese melts and crust is crispy. Check pizza bread frequently so bread doesn't burn.
21.Pizza Bread
1 loaf French bread, uncut
1 jar pizza sauce
8 oz. mozzarella cheese
8 oz. Cheddar cheese
1 (5-6 oz.) pkg. sliced pepperoni
Slice bread in half lengthwise. Place on cookie sheet. Spread pizza sauce on each half. Slice or grate cheese spread evenly on sauce. Put pepperoni slices on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cut in small pieces for appetizers or large slices for main dish.
22.Bread Pizza
2 loaves (unsliced) Italian or French bread
1 lb. deer burger
1 lb. sausage (or Italian sausage)
1 onion, chopped
1/2 c. green pepper (chopped)
1 can sliced mushrooms
1 qt. pizza sauce
1 lb. shredded Mozzarella cheese
Cook deer burger, sausage, onion and pepper together until meat is done. Drain off grease. Stir in pizza sauce and mushrooms.
Slice each loaf of French bread lengthwise in the center to make four equal slices. Place the four halves, cut side up, on two cookie sheets. Spoon and spread mixture on top of slices. Top with cheese. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven 15 minutes.

1 loaf French bread
1 jar Pizza Quick Sauce
1 bag grated cheese (Mozzarella)
Can use 1 pound hamburger, sausage or pepperoni. Add olives, onions to taste.
Cook meat; drain.

Monterey Jack cheese, grated
Mild Cheddar cheese, grated
Slice French bread length-wise and place on cookie sheet. Spread spaghetti sauce on both slices of French bread. Put favorite pizza makings on top of the sauce, then spread the grated cheeses over the pizza makings. Place the cookie sheet under the broiler until cheeses melt. Slice and serve.

2-3 loaves French bread
5 hard boiled eggs, grated
1 lb. sharp cheddar, grated
16 oz. pizza sauce
3-4 shakes catsup
1 cube melted butter
1 can chopped olives
1 finely chopped med. onion
3 cloves chopped garlic
1/2 tsp. or less Tabasco sauce
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. oregano
Slice French bread lengthwise. Set aside. Combine remaining ingredients. Spread on loaves of French bread. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Loaves can be wrapped in foil and frozen. If frozen bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes.
26.Italian Pizza Bread
1 lb. ground chuck
1/2 c. chopped ripe olives
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 c. chopped onion
2 (6 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Slices of Old English cheddar cheese
1 loaf French bread
Brown ground beef and drain. Combine ground beef with olives, Parmesan cheese, onions, one of the two cans of tomato sauce, oregano, salt and pepper. Spread mixture on French bread that has been cut in half lengthwise. Place in 375 degree oven for 10 minutes, then broil for about 5 minutes. Take out of broiler, pour remaining tomato sauce over halves of French bread, garnish with triangles of cheese. Broil for several minutes more to melt cheese. Serves 4.
27.Pizza Stuffed Bread
1 lb. Italian style fresh sausage
1 loaf (1 lb.) French or Italian bread, unsliced
1 c. Italian tomato sauce
1/2 lb. mozzarella cheese, shredded
Crumble sausage into frying pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until sausage is no longer pink. Drain. Split the brad horizontally, lengthwise but do not cut it all the way through, just so that it hinges open. Spoon pizza sauce over the cut surface of the bread. Top with the cooked sausage sprinkle the cheese evenly over it.
Close the bread sandwich style. Wrap in foil. Bake at 350 degrees until heated through and cheese is melted, 15-20 minutes, in either the oven of the side of the charcoal grill as cook other things. To serve, unwrap and cut into thick slices.
